The restaurant

The Ferraia’s old barn has been turned into a restaurant and can accommodate up to 70 guests who are offered typical dishes of local cuisine and regional specialities. In particular homemade pasta is served with great skill: tagliatelle, ravioli di ricotta, gnocchi, passatelli and vincisgrassi. The polenta alla carbonara which was in the past the unique meal of the carbonari (charcoal-burners), is very famous. The "carbonari" were the woodmen of this place. During the winter, when our country sides lay fallow, they went to the forests with only a few things to cut wood and make charcoal to Tuscany, Lazio and Umbria.

Pianello is well-known for the snail festival which has taken place every third Sunday of June for more than 40 years. All year round at the Ferraia snails are served at request, either as a sauce for the polenta or as second course prepared after, the old recipes of the place, in a sauce enriched with herbs and fennel giving them their unique taste and perfume. The charcoal grill allows us to prepare some excellent grilled meat from local breeds, such as chicken, duck and pigeon. Besides the delicious dishes, the warm environment and the skills of the people working there, your stay in the restaurant is made more pleasant by modern art prints housed at the Ferraia in a small but interesting permanent exposition, which has been selected in cooperation with the printer and painter Carlo Migani.
